Well maintained beachfront property. Family had a great time, including the dogs. Nice size back porch for hanging out, but if I had to pick one negative thing, it's the "outstanding ocean views". There really aren't any views unless you look from the far corners. The gigantic sand dune takes all the views away. But overall a good place for a small family.

We were delayed going to the beach by one day due to Hurricane Florence. Once we arrived, the ocean was beautiful. Being directly on the beach was awesome. We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the covered porch watching the waves crash. The house is older but very comfortable. The property management was great to work with. You are very close to the pier.

We have never stayed ocean front for our summer vacation and even though the house had a touch of the 70s, We loved it! We have 3 boys who enjoyed having their own space and being so close to walk on the beach at night to crab hunt as well as visit the nearby pier.We had an awesome time and booked already for next year!

This was the 5 th year we rented the same property. This last time it was extremely disappointing that half of the beach was gone. As part of a huge overhaul to save the homes on the beach the town created big huge dunes all along the beach in front of every house. And the only beach left was a quarter of what it used to be. <br/><br/>The house itself was fine, as it is every year.

We absolutely love this cottage. Fifth time staying at La Dolce Far Niente. The ocean views from the back porch cannot be beat. Direct access to the beach as well from the back porch. Although the cottage is next to a public access, the dunes beside it provide a nice buffer. La Dolce Far Niente is our home away from home. Plan to stay again next year.

Fourth time staying in this cottage. Really enjoyed the week relaxing on the beachfront porch. What a view! As I mentioned before, the living room furniture is outdated and not very comfortable. If replaced, this cottage would be exceptional! Did notice that the toilet had been replaced in the master bathroom. What a difference that made. Overall, this cottage has not disappointed me, and I would rent again.

The description and photos were an accurate account of the house. Definitely dated, a few changes could really 'cute' the place up a bit but otherwise it was comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Be careful with the kitchen drawers, as it would be easy to pull them all the way out. The blender was broken and the dishwasher is on the wrong side of the counters (see photos) but otherwise the kitchen was serviceable. The cottage is located right next to the public right of way so it does get a bit busy on that part of the beach but it was tolerable. The life guards chair is stationed here as well which I always find comforting! The covered porch facing the beach was one of the best parts of the house. We spent many hours looking at the sea, watching a fabulous storm and enjoying the outside. The queen size bed was very comfortable with nice pillows. The most important factor of this house was it's proximity to the beach so we were happy. We could easily go back and forth to the house for a break or lunch etc which is what makes the whole experience so much more relaxing. Dogs are allowed, so I would say the house was clean when we arrived although the previous white, fluffy, fido hair balls were blown from under furniture etc by the AC! Again, not a big deal, as you are sweeping up the sand that always manages to sneak in anyway. There's a hose pipe near the front porch to easily wash the sand off as you come off the beach and an outdoor shower which makes it very handy to get the whole family clean without much waiting (given that there are two bathrooms inside as well). The experience is exactly what we expected with location being the key. Thanks for a great holiday!

Interestingly, this house looks much better in person than it does in the photos online. The interior is much brighter and charming. The proximity to the beach is incredible, and the covered porch is a life-saver after hours in the sun. Be warned, right beside this home is a public entrance to the beach and a parking lot behind that, so expect a steady stream of people walking by and setting up their beach stuff, making it crowded on the beach in front of this home. To rent this home through Carolina Shores and to work with the reps at Carolina Shores was a pleasure. A great stay, all things considered. Recommended.

The location of La Dolce Far Niente is outstanding. Layout of the cottage is very nice and the porch to me is the best feature of all spending time on it from sunrise until sunset. Kitchen is well stocked too. Only improvement could be new living room furniture as it is older crate furniture. Hasn't stopped me, however, from staying three times here.

Have rented this cottage many years for 2 weeks in the Fall. Really happy Carolina Shores is the representing company. Was not feeling the love from Kitty Dunes some years ago. Cottage is well appointed and very comfortable and not fancy. I do not live with white carpeting and do not wish to vacation with white carpeting. The beach porch is the real deal...views are amazing.Just wish we could get a break with the weather one of these years....too many noreasters, wind and rain. A few maintenance issues were taken care of the same day or the next so all good there. Washer and dryer could be updated but the ones there still work after all these years. Feel as if this is my home away from home. Hope to be able to rent this cottage for many years to come. Also the dog friendly option has been appreciated over the years as well.

The house is literally on the water. The views were spectacular. The house is a 1970's house so don't expect a McMansion. But the location makes up for that. The folks at Carolina Shores Vacation Rentals were all very nice and helpful. We had to have something repaired and they came out almost immediately! Thanks for a wonderful week!

Over all the money i spent for the property was for the location and beach access not the house itself. I would recommend this property to a friend due to the location alone.<br/><br/> I understand why you don’t do updates to rentals; however, just a few here and there would make this property more appealing. With the location of the dishwasher you might as well not have one. <br/><br/>The fact that you could literally walk out onto the beach from the house was the best and most important part of this property. The bathrooms were clean, which was also very important. <br/><br/>However, the rest of the house was very, very dated, furniture very, very worn. I covered the couch and chairs with my own blankets throughout my stay. The laundry room was a little on the scary side. I was unable to open the door but with effort the maintenance man was finally able to get it unlocked and open. The washer and dryer were a little scary too. <br/>

This home was just wonderful. lovely location and everything was so close. The house was very clean. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again. This is the second time I have stayed in this house. I initially chose it because it is dog-friendly and directly on the beach, and there are a limited number of such properties available in our price range. The house is centrally located so that it is an easy drive to everything for those days when you want to do something other than lay on the beach. I will definitely be back.

This is a nice beach house. Being on the beach is what this place is all about. It is not fancy and does not have some of the bells and whistles that other places have. But who needs a Jacuzzi when the beach is out your back door! It is right at a public access road so the beach fills up quickly, but if you enjoy people watching it is fine. After the lifeguard leaves in the evening, the beach empties out and you can really enjoy the natural beauty of the Outer Banks.
